Prof. Gichaga, Former UoN VC is awarded at RUFORUM 2018

Former University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Gichaga was among 10 researchers that were awarded at the RUFORUM Awards 2018.

Prof. Gichaga received recognition for initiating the micro-economic funding model for public universities when the Structural Adjustment Programs was driving public universities to financial crisis. His resilience against a strong wave of resistance created what is popularly known as Module II Programmess which significantly changed the economic health of public universities.


The award was presented to Prof. Gichaga by Uganda’s first lady, H.E. Janet Museveni and the Cabinet Secretary, Education, Amb. Dr. Amina Mohamed at the official opening of the 6th Africa Higher Education Week and Biennial Conference (RUFORUM) on October 23, 2018.
