UNIVERSITY EMBARKS ON PREPARATIONS FOR THE 2016 INNOVATION WEEK.
As we transit into 2016 at full gear, you will recall that the University
of Nairobi hosted the first ever Nairobi Innovation Week from August 3 to
7, 2015. The historic event brought together a mix of industry players
from government, academia, private sector, techpreneurs, innovators, the
youth and other stakeholders.
The University declared this as an annual event with the brand name
“Nairobi Innovation Week” which is one way of putting the University at
the cutting edge in the process of generation, preservation and
dissemination of knowledge, more so where the knowledge emanates from

in the field of Research, Technology and Innovation (RTI) as articulated
in the Government’s Sector Performance Standards, Kenya’s Vision 2030 and
the University’s Strategic Plan (2013 - 2018).
It is also one of the programmes through which the Vice Chancellor is
actualizing his Transformation Agenda which he rolled out during his
inauguration as the 7th Vice Chancellor on February 14, 2015.
As promised by the Vice Chancellor during the Innovation Week of August,
2015, the event will be held annually. Consequently, arrangements are now
in place to host the 2016 Nairobi Innovation Week on August 1 – 5, 2016.
The Nairobi Innovation Week will be a culmination of a series of events
including public lectures, breakfast meetings and debates among other
