UoN's Constituent College Holds Its First Graduation

Embu University College, a constituent college of the University of Nairobi held its first graduation on October 1, 2016.

Embu conferred a total of 123 degrees and diplomas. 

Embu University college got ISO certification, was ranked excellent in the performance contracting process, and has developed infrastructure and grown the student population by 3000%. It has built and equipped the college library and developed the university strategic plan among others. 

This was revealed during the graduation by the Principal, Prof. Daniel Mugendi Njiru. 

Speaking during the event, the University of Nairobi Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi urged students to pursue their dreams. “You are children of fortune, you are graduating in the innovation age, you have technology at your disposal. Use it to your advantage and achieve great success.” she said.

Dr. Rattansi urged the graduating class of 2016 to have courage in the midst of hard times. She noted that the road ahead will be hard but they are equal to every challenge. She urged them to join the University of Nairobi Alumni and to partner with the University and share their experiences. In her concluding remarks, she told them to pursue their dreams.

On his part, the University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor,  Prof.  Peter Mbithi urged the graduands to come back and pursue further studies.  He challenged them to show leadership wherever they go. Prof. Mbithi as well assured Embu University College that the University of Nairobi Management will work hand in hand with them to ensure that they achieve high standards of academic excellence.

Prof. Mbithi as well thanked the government for continuous support towards university education.

Prof. Mugendi  praised the graduands for maintaining a high level of discipline. He urged the graduands to use their knowledge in business and in the academia.  As the pioneer Alumni of Embu University College, the graduands were urged to be good role models.  There were urged to be show good morals and promote excellence.
