Members of the University Executive Board (UEB) have signed their performance contract with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi.

The signing ceremony was held at the Council Chamber on July 21, 2017.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the  Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi urged the members of the UEB which comprises of the principals of the six colleges plus the directors of the Graduate School and the newly created ODeL Campus that they now have an opportunity to implement fully and surpass their targets as stated in their signed 2017/2018 performance contract year.

Prof. Mbithi borrowed the words of Jack Ma, the leading Asian business mogul when he urged his team to work with zeal and make their clients happy. “Meet your targets and surpass. The difficulties are the opportunities. Make your clients happy, in this case the students, their parents and guardians and the university will be successful. Do not complain, make use of the opportunities and excel.”

Also discussed during the meeting are the challenges facing the university like frequent power and water issues that he stressed should be resolved immediately.

The members of the University Executive Board also adopted the recommendation of rewarding top researchers as was agreed in the meeting with deans, directors of faculties, schools and institutes. UEB members agreed that the money will be used to create an endowment fund that will enable the university to reward its top scholars for a long time to come.

Following the successful negotiation of the return to work formula by the university dons after a strike over the implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) it was agreed that the management will negotiate with UASU officials on the lecturers recovering the lost time.
