The University of Nairobi staff, students and external stakeholders gathered together at Taifa Hall on Wednesday morning January 24, 2018 for an inaugural prayer day that will be held annually.

It was a time of reflection and thanksgiving for what God has done to the whole community. Rev. Hosea Mitei took the congregation through the key benefits and reasons for thanksgiving.

"It is so easy to be carried away by the joy of answered prayers that you forget to give thanks. We have become a thankless society. Remember to give thanks always, do it immediately and do not focus on the gift and forget the giver." He preached.

The Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi said that she was encouraged to hear that the University had planned for a prayer day. She urged the audience to be doers of the word and not hearers only.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi said that as a university we have gone through many challenges but God has seen us through them and the least we can do is come back to say thanks.

The interdenominational service saw Catholics, protestants, Seventh Day Adventists, Muslims and Hindu religions unite for thanksgiving.
