UoN joins World Universities Network (WUN)

UoN is now the third African university to join the World Universities Network (WUN). The other two African universities are the University of Cape Town and the University of Ghana.

 

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has been admitted to the World Universities Network (WUN) following an assessment by the Global Universities Network.

UoN Hosted AfriCHI, Africa Human Computer Interface Conference

The University of Nairobi hosted the Africa Human Computer Interface, AfriCHI. The first ever conference of its kind brought together scholars from over 21 countries across the globe.

The 3 day conference was themed, 'Building bridges and breaking barriers.'

UoN Students Awarded Chinese Embassy Scholarship

20 bright but needy students received scholarships from the Chinese Embassy in a ceremony that was held at Taifa Hall on Monday, November 14, 2016.

The Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Xiu Lianfa presented the scholarship awards.

UoN's Constituent College Holds Its First Graduation

Embu University College, a constituent college of the University of Nairobi held its first graduation on October 1, 2016.

Embu conferred a total of 123 degrees and diplomas.

UoN Senior Administrators Undergo Training

The University of Nairobi Senior Administrators were trained by Federation of Kenyan Employers, FKE. 

The Administrators were drawn from all the 6 colleges of the University. Due to the large number, the administrators were divided into two groups.

UoN Hosts Oil and Gas Public Lecture

The University of Nairobi (UoN) and Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) collaborated and held an inaugural public lecture themed ‘Oil and Gas sector in the East African region: Challenges and development’. The Lecture was held at Taifa Hall on July 1, 2016.

Guest Speaker, Hon. Charles Keter, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, said that although oil exploration in Kenya started in the 1960s, there have not been enough capitation discussions about the Oil and gas sector in Kenya.

Finance Department Hold a Team Building

The University of Nairobi’s internal audit and finance staff hold a social forum at the Arziki restaurant, Chiromo Campus.

During the team building, the finance officer, Mr. Peter Busienei urged the staff from both departments to work as a team. This is in line with the University’s core value of team work. He also urged them to be stewards and brand ambassadors of the University as they always ensure that the University gets value for its money at all times.

The Internal Audit staff was also encouraged to enhance their skills always as they seek to increase the University’s financial prudence and to be a world class university. The University budget, procurement plan, performance contracting and the strategic plan are among the financial tools that the staff were urged to have knowledge of.
